Gourmet Touring launches Rally of the Châteaux. A journey of wine discovery through the picturesque countryside of Bordeaux's Entre-deux-Mers region.

Gourmet Touring, specialist operator of gastronomic tours in the Bordeaux region of France, experienced from the seat of classic and modern sports cars, has launched a new itinerary for people with their own classic cars wishing to explore the Bordeaux wine region.

The Rally of the Châteaux experience is held on the first weekend of June and is a truly magnificent event. Over 150 classic cars of all marques take part in the non-competitive event over the course of the weekend. Held in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux and Cadillac wine appellations each team's routes take them through the scenic Bordeaux vineyards from one Château to the next. Tours of each Château visited can be undertaken together with the opportunity to taste and buy great quality wines at Châteaux door prices.

Accommodation is organised at one of two Château. The first offers simple great value accommodation situated in lovely grounds in the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux region. The second offers plusher accommodation in the famous Sauternes sweet wine appellation.

The three night itinerary includes breakfast, lunch and evening meals on each day. The first evening meal is at the guests' Château accommodation where wine personality Olly Smith joins the dinner to introduce them to Bordeaux wines through a tasting session. Lunch on both days of the rally is held at a wine producing Château. The end of the first day of the rally is topped with a gastronomic highlight when guests dine at a Michelin starred restaurant. Guests are chauffeured there and back from the restaurant in order that they can all enjoy wine with their meal.

Throughout the holiday Gourmet Touring is on hand to provide local knowledge and 24 hour assistance of any kind. A bespoke touring guide to the region is also supplied. A particularly useful addition for exploring the region either side of the rally and also for those wishing to extend their stay by a few nights.

Prices per person are £690 with accommodation at the more basic château (based on 2 in a car and 2 sharing a room) or £780 at the plusher château. Prices exclude travel to France but include entry to the rally and all meals. Numbers are strictly limited and bookings will only be accepted for cars acknowledged as 'classics' by Gourmet Touring. Bookings should be made by March 15th 2005. Club discounts are available for bookings of four or more cars.
