1897 2 cylinder Daimler.
Three people, two sporting deerstalkers, are seen on board this veteran Daimler as it speeds down a road on a road run, possibly the London to Brighton. The car, car No.1, is registered W 95, and survives to this day still appearing in this annual event. A search for details on this old car describe it as an 1897 Daimler, propelled by a twin cylinder engine of 4HP. The coachwork is described as a tonneau type. Neither of the front seat occupants seem overly concerned with the road ahead, so either they're travelling at very low speed, or else something alarming has happened back down the road. I'd date this photograph to the early 1960s - the presence of a 'fin tail' Morris Oxford means that it cannot be pre-1959.
