Hi Guys.
I hope I can get some helpful recommends on here. I am looking for an engineering works who know their onions to reclaim a very rare 1933 Armstrong Siddeley 15 hp Block. It has been left in the weather as a built up engine for a few years and sadly filled up with water. Fortunately the crank was well oiled and is in astonishing good order and as it had all new bearings in it has excluded water penetration. The main problem is terrible pitting on the bores and as it has +40 pistons in it is probably past cleaning up & needing sleeving. Regrettably the camshaft cannot be budged and is siezed in the bearings.
Does anyone here know any East Midlands or Midlands trustworthy suppliers? I have contacted a couple but they ran away when I explained what it was from, seems they only want to do more modern stuff.
Peter

Hi Peter

You could try Dave Rushton Engines in Stoke. They have re-sleeved a 1939 Morris 8 block for me as well as other engineering work. They can line bore if the camshaft needs needs bearings (I'm assuming the cam originally ran straight in the block?). They don't disassemble stuff, just do the machining.

Hi Peter,

This establishment nr Market Drayton does a lot with pre-war engines, a friend of mine has used them for engine machining and they've done bits and pieces for me too, most recently fixing up the Dodge tourer's manifold.
