After finally getting my minx series lllb on the road I now find that after running for a while the oil light flickers intermittently when the car is ticking over. any suggestions before I start pulling bits off?

I suggest put a pressure gauge on to see what the real reading is.

Perhaps it's just low on oil ~ or in need of an oil change....

but then I expect you have already tried that....

does it go out when its off tickover. could be a dodgy sender . the wifes series v minx was doing it when we bought it . I put a gauge on it and it was fine . changed the sender. job done Cool too be honest in the manual it says its ok on tickover to be flickering but not at speed Confused

Maybe tickover is too slow? Most of us could be on lowish oil pressure on idle when the engine is hot and would not know if the threshold for the sender was not quite reached. Are you using the recommended oil? Does the light go off after a short while when the engine may have cooled?

More than likely just a pressure sender fault. There are some poor quality sender switches around though, i have fitted a new one recently on a series 2 Land Rover, and after about 3 weeks, the oil lamp was back on again. That was supposed to be a genuine part too. I fitted another from Alldrive, and all has been well for a month now.
