Today's update regarding PoP:

WORLD CLASS RALLY ACTION DEBUTS AT
CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER

* Exciting new partnership with Wales Rally GB
* WRC cars and drivers to take part in thrilling on-track activity
* Demonstrations from British Rally Championship stars and historic rally cars

The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (14-16 June), the UK's biggest celebration of power and speed, is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with Wales Rally GB (14-17 November), traditionally the final round of the FIA's World Rally Championship (WRC).

Visitors to the 2013 Pageant will get to see a packed schedule of on-track rallying action, with past and present WRC stars plus British Rally Championship drivers demonstrating their talents on the 1.2-mile sprint circuit. A new dedicated Rally Village will also give members of the public the chance to get up close and personal with a wide collection of rally cars and stars, giving them a fantastic insight into one of the world's most exciting and spectacular sports.

The rally machinery being showcased at Cholmondeley will include thoroughbred WRC cars currently competing in the 2013 Championship, together with entrants to this year's British Rally Championship and a selection of the best historic rallying icons.

The special Wales Rally GB promotion results from a new partnership between the Pageant of Power organisers and International Motor Sports, the organisers of Wales Rally GB, and forms an integral part of the IMS 'Road to Wales' campaign.

"We delighted to be bringing some of the thrills of world class rallying to the Pageant of Power," said Andrew Coe, Chief Executive of IMS. "It's no secret that we are looking to refresh Wales Rally GB and have lots of exciting new plans not only aimed at benefiting the traditional hardcore rally fan but also to attract a wider audience. We want to show them what they've been missing and we're confident that what's being organised at the Pageant of Power will help to spread the word and thus significantly widen our event's overall appeal."

James Hall, Event Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, said: "Rallying will be a central element to this year's event, with dedicated track time for rally cars giving visitors the opportunity to witness some of the fastest, loudest and most exciting vehicles in the world. This is one of the only chances that the British public will have to see some of these vehicles anywhere in the UK this year. We can't wait to see what the Wales Rally GB organisers have in mind for spectators, but we're confident that it will add to the event's ability to thrill and amaze."

Now in its sixth year, the 2013 Pageant will take place on the Cholmondeley Estate in Cheshire from 14 to 16 June, celebrating power and performance in its many forms. Until 15 May, adult tickets start at just £22 for the Friday Preview Day, and £28 to see all the action on Saturday or Sunday. Under-16 tickets are also currently available free of charge.

A full event schedule and list of participants will be announced over the coming weeks.

CLASSIC HEROES CONFIRMED FOR
2013 CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER

* Pageant of Power to showcase some of the world's most revered classic cars
* Motorsport heritage celebrated with historic racing stars, such as the Aston Martin DB4 GT, Bentley Blower and Le Mans-winning Speed 8, and Donington Collection W125

Historically important models from Aston Martin, Ferrari and Bentley will make up just part of an awe-inspiring collection of more than 200 of the world's rarest and most beautiful classic cars and motorsport vehicles at this year's Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (14-16 June). The 2013 Pageant, the UK's most dynamic motorsport event, promises to showcase one of the most extensive and noisiest collections of performance cars ever.

Stretching back through the annals of high-octane history, this year's Pageant boasts track appearances from some of the most exclusive and iconic vehicles ever to have graced the international racing scene. Famous race cars include the ground-breaking Donington Collection W125 - evoking the dominant 'Silver Arrows' cars of the 1930s - and the 1956 Maserati 250F made famous by Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir Stirling Moss.

To celebrate the marque's centenary, a special Aston Martin race category at the Pageant will feature more than a dozen famous models, including the DB4 GT - a lightweight version of the beautiful DB4 with a shorter wheelbase, lighter bodywork and more powerful engines. The DB4 GT on show at the Pageant is one of only 75 ever manufactured.

Other legendary models from Aston Martin include the single-seater 1959 DBR4, as driven successfully in Formula One, the 24 Hours of Le Mans and World Sportscar Championship in the late 1950s, and an ex-Sir Jack Brabham 1955 DB2/4, fitted with a DB3S engine. The DB2/4 was one of the fastest cars on the road and track by the standards of the day.

Of the many masterpieces on show at the Pageant, the prodigious Bentley Speed 8 endurance race car is among the cream of the crop. Its 4.0-litre twin turbocharged engine delivers the 615 bhp that catapulted the very vehicle on show at the Pageant to its decisive victory at the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans. 10 years to the day after its famous victory, the Speed 8's presence at the Pageant is sure to set onlookers' hearts racing.

Other notable motorsport stars include the 4.5-litre supercharged 1930 Bentley Blower, driven by the 'Bentley Boys' during a golden era of British motorsport, and a 1978 Williams FW06, the first F1 car ever engineered by the Williams F1 team.

James Hall, Event Director for the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, said: "The Pageant of Power is an event like no other, celebrating power and performance in all its forms, and nowhere is this mandate fulfilled more thoroughly than with this selection of classic stars. This year's display is sure to delight and fascinate our spectators, providing a wonderful showcase of power, performance and beauty from many of the rarest and most historically significant track and road cars anywhere in the world."

I'm told that the current (or maybe last months) issue of Top Gear magazine has a voucher to get free entry on Friday preview day. I haven't checked personally. Not bad though, £4-odd vs. £24.

No surprises on what the weather's doing today, based on previous years' PoPs, anyone planning on going over the weekend?

Yes, I've been there today and will be there all weekend. Changeable today, though mainly changing between light rain and heavy rain, but some sunny bits. A couple of pics:

I hope to be there tomorrow. The father of one of junior's little buddies was there today and reported damp going under-foot, should be an interesting day despite the weather.

Yes, much better day today, ran into Rick during the day while I could still walk (shoe trouble, still not dry from yesterday and now rubbing. Ah well).

A bit more going on in the air today:

Doesn't matter how many times I see this, it's still a lovely sight and sound:

Battle of Britain Memorial flight turned up just as I was buying some sausage from a German guy.

That Corvette in Rick's photos above must have had a coming-together with something, note the extreme toe-out

Really?
