on my project singer, first job when it gets to my garage is a complete refurb of the brake system.
repair kits are readily available, the option of some new componants is there as well.
been quoted £150 for a service kit for the girling powerstop remote servo, an exchange unit comes in at over £200.
i have seen these lockheed 'type' remote servos (mgb fitment it seems?)

for the price, they seem a far better option.

any experience chaps?

I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's not an easy job to refurbish a servo satisfactorily and it's often a better option to replace them, but it's not something I have any personal experience of. Everything else should be fine to refurb if you can get seals, just have good look at the bores for scoring and so on. It's well worth getting a tub of red rubber grease, use a smear on pistons and pack it under dust caps to try and keep the water out, it might just prevent things seizing up on a car that doesn't see daily use. Calipers, though, can be a pain to get the pistons out of, and old chrome plated pistons will often want replacing as even small imperfections in the plating will damage new seals - if you're not too pushed for cash you might want to pay someone else to do it. Having said that, I never have had the cash for recon calipers and have overhauled at least 3 sets of calipers for different cars with perfect success Smile

I bought a servo kit for my Landcrab It lasted a short time before failing. You need perfect bores, mine was scored slightly.

I purchased a Lockheed replacement, It has been on for at least 12 years.
