A true great Briton, Ken Wallis died in his sleep earlier this week at the age of 97. I met him just over a year ago at his home when he gave a talk to the Riley Motor Club. A great man in so many ways, he was very modest about his achievements, had a great sense of humour and was happy to hop on one of his autogyros to give us a demonstration flight.

RIP Wing Commander Wallis

An event is being held at Old Buckenham airfield on Sunday 29th September to celebrate the life and (many) achievements of Wg Cdr Wallis. Details can be found here :

I was fortunate to meet Wg Cdr Wallis on a few occasions - extremely clever man and a tremendous character. He will be greatly missed.

Hi
There is a Wallis-Bensen 1959 gyrocopter at MOSI in Manchester.
