I don't know if this is ok but I've had these parts for years and don't know what the were on. It is really bugging me. I emailed Burlen about the su's but I don't expect a reply.
The black lamp is 6 inches in dia and has L-WD-H6 stamped on the top. I'm guessing military. I suppose it attaches to a bar with the brass clamp.
The Su's are 1 1/8in. The float chamber lid has 1161L on it and the float chamber 3496M and then what looks like PDC. The odd bit is the top of the piston chamber. It's flat with a square edge. All Su's I've seen have had rounded edges.

Any ideas?

(I thought I'd have another look before I posted. http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/balancecarbs.htm Didn't try very hard did I? MC2's. These were spares for my Cannon looky-likey just like the picture.)

The SU is an MC2,

Used by motor bikes, Ariel used them on the Square four, so I have been told.

I have a pair of 1.1/2 inch MC2's on the DLM.

You can still get the repair kits from Burlan.

Also there is no 'damper' piston as per later types, they rely on the spring rate/tension and piston weight.

As to the lamp someone else will have to help on that.

PS, Just googled 'su mc2 carbs' and it seems most british bikes used them.

Ah ha. Happy now, thanks. I can't get that bit apart on mine, the piston is a bit stuck. I'll fiddle around and see if I can free it off. I found one web page where a guy was selling one for 175 euros and got all excited but then there is one on ebay for a more reasonable £2.86

The info I was missing was MC2. There are masses of references to su carbs but not so many for this one. It is quite hard to find out things using search engines unless you have a pretty accurate idea what you are looking for.
I once spent 2 days solid trying to find a solution to a Microsoft Exchange problem and other people from the support company had looked too. Did it eventually.
