Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the Cotton Straps are above the leaf springs? They seem to be joined to a rubber mounting?
Its on our 1954 Hillman Minx Californian.

Where will I get new ones as 2 straps on each side are broken with age?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks everyone,
Best, Dave

If they're anything like the ones fitted to my Volvo, iirc they stop the axle dropping too far when, say, speeding over a hump-back bridge and getting airborne. They measure approx 1" wide, one either side, attached to the axle at one end and under the body above the axle at the other. Or are you talking about something else?

You can make some yourself from webbing used on ratchet straps etc.

Quite a lot of cars in the 1950`s had these fitted.

My Morris Minor van has something similar.

Have you any photo`s of your car to post on here.?
