I was looking for trinkets (or junk to buy!) at an autojumble and came across a new fuel cap with a V8 logo which I thought would look OK on my Pilot.
It's obviously a repro part, probably a Vintique, but I can't see if it is vented or not. No visible hole that I can see.
My question is does the V8 Pilot need a vented cap or conversely, what if it doesn't but the cap is..... the simplest of things but I have spent ages trying to find out to no avail.
The existing cap is a locking doo dah that doesn't look in keeping with the car. (Again, no idea if the locking cap is vented) |

Hi
If a vented cap is required then a non-vented one will cause problems, BUT can't see any problem fitting a vented cap to a vehicle which already has a tank vented elswhere, unless you brim the tank and then attack corners a bit too vigourously. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Penman, thanks for the reply.
I've looked very carefully and can't find a vent from the fuel tank anywhere.
On asking a couple of other Pilot owners there seems to be a differing of opinions if it is a vented system or not, so as I'm not having any problems at the moment I'll leave the existing filler cap on and the nice, V8 scripted one is destined for my display cabinet.
Update: From a very Pilot knowledgeable source, it is an unvented tank / fuel system. |
