Latest PR regarding this year's CarFest North and South:

-------------------------

CARFEST – THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

• Chris Evans inspired fund-raisers for BBC Children in Need
• Ferraris, Maseratis and Mustangs top the on-track bill
• Two more fun-filled festivals packed with family entertainment

As the sun sets on Goodwood Festival of Speed, British Grand Prix and Glastonbury 2014, the spotlight switches to August’s two award-winning CarFest extravaganzas.

Just over three years ago BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Chris Evans had a dream. It was to create a fundraising event that celebrated his passion for fast cars, rocking music artists and a love of good cake. Now in its third year CarFest 2014 is back with plenty of good honest fun and all in aid of BBC Children in Need.

To date the four hugely successful, sell-out CarFests have wowed more than 200,000 visitors and the intoxicating mix of fast cars, live music and great festival food have raised over £2m for BBC Children in Need.

This summer’s CarFest North takes place at Oulton Park in Cheshire from 1-3 August. Three weeks later CarFest South returns to Laverstoke Park Farm near Basingstoke in Hampshire over the 22-24 August Bank Holiday weekend.

“The wonderful world of CarFest is back,” exclaimed an expectant Evans. “Prepare yourselves for a feast of fabulous festival food, marvellous fast cars and live shows from the kind of bands we all love. It’s going to be utterly, scrumptiously fantastic!”

Topped by Evans’ own ‘Magnificent 7’ collection of amazing Ferraris, the Track Sprint line-up of dazzling cars sticks with the Sevens theme with lots of new and exciting categories being fuelled for 2014. There’s a Rock Star Seven, Hod Rod Seven, Movie Car Seven as well as more familiar F1 and Rally Sevens. The special Anniversary Seven will include Nick Mason’s stunning Maserati 250F to celebrate the Italian company’s centenary, while the Muscle Car Seven will feature Ford’s newly revealed 2015 Mustang to mark 50 years of the American classic.

Laverstoke Park Farm, home to CarFest South, is the renowned organic/biodynamic farm owned by former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter. Last year Scheckter performed some dramatic demo runs in his title winning Ferrari and unique Grand Prix winning six-wheeled Tyrrell F1 cars – he will be back in action come August.

Away from the Track Sprint, the popular Showground will once again be packed with massive stunts and huge displays while the Outdoor Play Area will be filled with the very best children’s entertainers and performers. Britain’s Best Pavilion is another much loved CarFest attraction – it showcases food and drink created by small producers from throughout the UK. The equally popular Cakes v Pies competition returns, too, with judges again including TV personalities Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

Air displays are also a huge attraction with the RAF Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight among the flying favourites.

As if the magical sounds of Merlin and Ferrari V12 engines aren’t enough aural excitement for one weekend, a host of famous bands will also be strutting their stuff on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings on stages compered by the inimitable Evans. This year’s bill toppers include Erasure, Eliza Doolittle, Simple Minds, Seasick Steve, Scouting for Girls, Jools Holland, The Feeling, 10cc, Chas & Dave, Jamie Cullum and Texas.

While CarFest South again is a complete sell-out and all weekend tickets for CarFest North have also been snapped up, there are a few remaining Friday and Sunday tickets available for Oulton Park.

For more information on how to procure the few remaining tickets and all the latest news, visit the official CarFest website at www.carfest.org.

LET THE REVVING AND ROCKING COMMENCE

• Award winning CarFast roars into Cheshire
• Chris Evans gears up for more cars, cakes and concerts
• A few remaining Friday tickets still on sale

Lights to green – fun-fuelled CarFest North is all set to burst into spectacular action at the picturesque Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire from 1-3 August. What’s more there’s still a great chance for a few more show goers to experience what creator, BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Chris Evans, describes as ‘my perfect family festival’.

Evans’ dream of combining fast cars, rocking music and a love of a good cake became a reality with two sell-out events in 2012 and again in 2013. Hosted enthusiastically by the ebullient media personality himself, these high-octane extravaganzas have proved hugely popular and successful – more importantly they have raised more than £2m for BBC Children in Need. They’ve also received widespread industry recognition and were recently awarded with the ‘Best Live Event’ accolade at the prestigious AEO Excellence Awards 2014.

Building on that success, CarFest North now returns to Oulton Park for another three days of fabulous family entertainment.

“Oh my goodness gracious me, the wonderful world of CarFest is only a few days away now!” exclaimed an excited Evans. “Are you ready to rock and rev? Fire up those V12 engines, power up those amps and dust off those dancing shoes – here we go again!”

The dazzling showcase of cars revving up for the Track Sprint at Oulton is headed by Evans’ own ‘Magnificent 7’ collection of fabulous Ferraris. This year’s list of Prancing Horses includes a pair of mouth-watering Ferrari 250 GTs from the Sixties, a Daytona from the Seventies, a gleaming F40 from the Nineties plus one of the illustrious Italian company’s latest La Ferrari supercars.

The other car collections on show all stick with the Sevens theme, too. There’s a Muscle Car Seven topped by Ford’s yet-to-be-released 2015 Mustang V8 Fastback; an Historic F1 Seven featuring cars raced by Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill; a Movie Car Seven with a ‘Back to the Future’ De Lorean and ‘Love Bug’ Herbie Beetle; an Anniversary Seven including the Maserati 250F owned by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason; an Unusual Seven containing Honda’s record breaking 130mph lawn mower and a BRM Gas Turbine Le Mans racer plus equally special collections of seven motorbikes, rally cars, vintage cars, racing cars, hot rods and gorgeous supercars.

Away from the high octane track action, activities in the popular Showground will include a mega Monster Truck display, the Knights of the Damned jousters and the DR Stunts motorcycle display team which is coming all the way from Australia to wow the CarFest crowds.

Adding yet more smiles to faces of all ages, the low-flying Red Barrows return with their whacky wheel-barrow spectacular, while the baaaaarmy Lamb National will see what are billed as a ‘flock of elite sheep’ competing on a specially-designed assault course!

As a family festival, CarFest also delivers an amazing range of activities, entertainment and discovery for younger visitors. Ball World serves up a host of different ball-based sports, Book World offers story reading lessons in The Book Den and Mechanics World is where all ages can learn more about car and combustion courtesy of the AA and the Army.

There will be a number of cookery workshops in which people can partake as well as visiting Britain’s Best Pavilion that will showcase many of the UK’s small producers of fine foods and drinks.

Other hugely popular attractions include an awesome array of air displays plus the not-to-be-missed Cakes v Pies competition that reaches its crescendo on Sunday afternoon with TV chef Paul Hollywood as one of the judges and cheerleaders on the Main Stage.

As the sun goes down and the dust settles on the Show ground and track activities, so the live music moves into overdrive. Friday evening’s line up at Oulton Park is topped by celebrated synthpop duo Erasure, with Simple Minds to the fore on Saturday and the imitable Jools Holland bringing down the curtain on Sunday night. The fun-loving Evans will be introducing equally great sets from the likes of Eliza Doolittle, Paloma Faith, Seasick Steve, The Feeling, 10cc, Texas and Tom Odell over the weekend, too.

There are a few tickets remaining for Friday – these are priced at £57 for adults and £10 for children (6-16 years).

For all the latest news about the event – as well as how to purchase the tickets – visit the official CarFest website.

Isn't it a pity that North, means North Midlands. You would have thought that Chris Evans would have heard of Croft!

Anyone else hoping that there really should be a comma after the word "judges" ?

I think Rick was simply quoting what was writ by another.

At least the plural of judges didn't become judge's.

Yes, just my dig at the press people for planting the image of Paul Hollywood as a cheerleader in my mind.

I went along to watch the air display at lunchtime, not sure what to expect as I hadn't been able to find any details on what was coming. Weather was not good for air displays, and some of the aircraft being grey didn't help the photos.

Was this the southern show, or just slightly north of Watford?
