BTCC CHAMPION ANDREW JORDAN CONFIRMS
GOODWOOD REVIVAL DRIVE WITH FATHER MIKE.

British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will make his Goodwood Revival return this year at the wheel of an Austin A40 that he will share with his father Mike.

The Jordan family’s Eurotech organisation has spent the past year converting a period road car to 1958 race specification and will contest the St Mary’s Trophy, which is being run for touring cars of the 1950s during the 12-14 September event.

The car was shaken down this week and will test at the ultra-quick Goodwood Motor Circuit on 3 March with both Andrew and Mike taking a turn behind the wheel.

Andrew made his Goodwood Revival debut in 2012 at the wheel of a Morris Minor in the St Mary’s Trophy while Mike – a race winner in the BTCC and a former British GT champion – first appeared at the West Sussex event last year, taking pole position for the Whitsun Trophy for Ford GT40s.

Andrew Jordan: “I first raced at Goodwood in the Revival in 2012 in a Morris Minor and had a brilliant time – in fact, I’d go as far to say that it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a race weekend, and the attention to detail at the event was pretty amazing too. I was gutted last year that I couldn’t do the event because of a date clash with the BTCC, so I was really happy that the dates matched up for me this year and that we’ve secured an entry. The entire reason we decided to build the car was to race it at Goodwood and it has all the original seats and instruments. We’re pretty confident it will run at the front too.”

EIGHT BRITISH TOURING CAR CHAMPIONS SET FOR GOODWOOD REVIVAL BATTLE.



As many as eight British Touring Car Champions are set to do battle at the Goodwood Revival on September 12-14 in the St Mary’s Trophy for 1950s production saloons.

Italian tin-top legend Fabrizio Giovanardi, who claimed the 2007 and ’08 BTCC titles to add to his Spanish, Italian and European crowns, will make his Revival debut in Alfa Romeo machinery among a 30-car field of cars of a kind that raced between 1950-’59.

Midlander Matt Neal, who took his three crowns in 2005, ’06 and ‘11, will race a 1959 Austin A35 with Neil Brown, whose organisation prepares the engines for Neal’s Honda Civic BTCC machine.

Neal’s regular team-mate Gordon Shedden, who won the 2012 BTCC, will also race an A35, while the man who usurped him as champion - Andrew Jordan - will be behind the wheel of an A40 from 1958. He will share the car, which has been prepared by his family’s Eurotech Racing establishment, with his father Mike – a BTCC racewinner himself.

Jason Plato, who holds the record for BTCC race victories with an incredible 83, and claimed the title in 2001 and ‘10, will partner TV chef and Goodwood regular James Martin in an-ex Alan Mann Racing Ford Prefect 107E of 1959 specification while 1990 champion Robb Gravett will pilot a Vauxhall PA Cresta.

The ever-popular Scotsman John Cleland, champion in 1989 and ’95, and Northern Irish ace Colin Turkington, who claimed his 2009 title in the most dramatic of circumstances at a thrilling season finale, are both also likely to be behind the wheel of legendary machinery.

The St Mary’s Trophy, in which BMW, Fiat, Jaguar, Morris, Sunbeam and others will be represented, is a two-part race with each car featuring a professional current or ex-racing driver. The overall result will be declared as an aggregate of the two races.

GOODWOOD REVIVAL TO STAGE RACE EXCLUSIVELY FOR THE JAGUAR D-TYPE

The Goodwood Revival will celebrate the 60th anniversary of arguably Britain’s most iconic sports car, the Jaguar D-type, with a special race for examples of the legendary machine at the September 12-14 event.

As many as 30 D-types, invited from across the globe, will take part in the Lavant Cup, which will be held on the Saturday of the Revival.

Vehicles will include the regular-bodied car as well as the later ‘long-nose’ special. Examples of the D-type’s road-going variant, the XKSS will also compete while the experimental E2A, the one-off prototype that acted as the bridge between the D and the later E-type, is also set to race.

The D-type, which replaced the ultra-successful C-type, made its competition debut in 1954, and went on to win the Le Mans 24 Hours the following year with Mike Hawthorn and Ivor Bueb driving for Jaguar’s works team.

The Scottish Ecurie Ecosse outfit added further Le Mans victories for the D-type in 1956 for Ron Flockhart and Ninian Sanderson, and in ’57 for Flockhart and Bueb.

The latter season showed utter dominance by the Coventry-built machine, as five of the top six finishers at La Sarthe were D-types; the first four all powered by the 3.4-litre engine and the JD Hamilton car in sixth of Duncan Hamilton and Masten Gregory equipped with a 3.8-litre powerplant.

D-types have also raced with great success at the Goodwood Revival. Most recently, Gary Pearson triumphed in the 2006 Sussex Trophy, and touring car legend Anthony Reid won the same race in 2013.

KEVIN SCHWANTZ TO MAKE GOODWOOD REVIVAL DEBUT ON NORTON ‘FEATHERBED’

Grand Prix motorcycle racing legend Kevin Schwantz will make his Goodwood Revival debut during the September 12-14 event on an iconic Manx Norton ‘Featherbed’.

Schwantz, the 1993 500cc World Champion, last raced on UK soil during the 1994 British 500cc Grand Prix at Donington Park, but will tackle the daunting Goodwood Motor Circuit this year in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy, which will be run for bikes of 1951-54 period.

The 50-year-old American will race the only remaining example of the 1950 Norton Works 500 ‘Featherbed’, a bike on which Geoff Duke dominated the Isle of Man TT during that season, and which has not been seen in public for 64 years. The ‘Featherbed’ is owned by Peter Bloore and is being prepared by Ken McIntosh.

While Schwantz has never contested the Revival before, he has been a visitor to Goodwood previously and wowed crowds at the 2013 Festival of Speed after taking to the fabled 1.16-mile Hillclimb on his title-winning Suzuki RGV500.

Schwantz was elevated to grand prix racing in late 1986 and spent eight full years at the highest level. During a 103-race career he won 25 grands prix, finished on the podium 51 times, started from pole position on 29 occasions and set 26 fastest laps.

Kevin Schwantz said: “I’m excited to be taking part in the Goodwood Revival and riding not only one of the most famous racing motorcycles ever made, but also a machine whose design changed motorcycle racing forever. I’ve never raced at the Revival, but have been to the Festival of Speed and was blown away by what an incredible event it is. The machines, not to mention the legends of motorsports in attendance, and the sheer number of spectators was just amazing. The Goodwood Motor Circuit looks really quick and I am looking forward to racing the Norton 500 "Featherbed" out on the track.”

LE MANS 24 HOURS WINNERS MARK BLUNDELL AND JACKIE OLIVER JOIN GOODWOOD REVIVAL LINE-UP.

Le Mans 24 Hours winners Mark Blundell and Jackie Oliver are the latest stars to add their names to the Goodwood Revival entry list for the September 12-14 event.

Blundell, 48, won at Le Mans in 1992 with Peugeot and went on to add three Formula 1 podium finishes as well as three victories in the Champ Car World Series in North America later in the decade.

After contesting in the St Mary’s Trophy with friend Kerry Michael in a Ford Lotus Cortina last year, he is aiming to improve on that finish in a 1958 Ford Zodiac as the pair reunite for the world’s only authentic period motor racing event.

Seventy-one-year-old Oliver, whose victory at La Sarthe came in a Ford GT40 in 1969, also won the Sebring 12 Hours and Daytona 24 Hours and added a pair of F1 podium finishes of his own before retiring from driving to establish the Arrows Grand Prix team. He will share his own BMW 700 with a yet-to-be announced co-driver.

Also confirmed for the St Mary’s Trophy is Anthony Reid, a Le Mans podium finisher himself and a two-time championship runner-up in British Touring Cars during the all-star Super Touring era.

Reid, 55, will drive a Jaguar Mk1 prepared by Don Law Racing, having won the St Mary’s Trophy in the same car when the race was last held for 1950s saloons in 2012.

Mark Blundell said: “I’m looking forward to the Goodwood Revival as it’s always a really fun weekend with people buying into the spirit of the retro feel. It’s nice to see all the classic cars back out on track, and the owners that look after them with so much passion. I am also very happy to be racing with Kerry Michael again, who did a great job last year.”

GOODWOOD REVIVAL TO HONOUR ICONIC MASERATI 250F WITH MONSTER DISPLAY.

The Goodwood Revival will mark 60 years of one of Formula 1’s most iconic machines, the Maserati 250F, with one of the largest ever on-track collections of the car at the September 12-14 event.

As many as 16 examples of the 250F will take part in the Richmond Trophy, which this year will feature 2.5-litre, front-engined grand prix cars of a kind that raced from 1954 to 1960. Among them is one of only two of the V12-engined versions of the machine ever built.

The beautiful 250F took victory on its debut at the 1954 Argentinian Grand Prix in the hands of five-time Formula 1 world champion Juan Manuel Fangio and was raced in period by more of the world’s top names, including Sir Stirling Moss, Tony Brooks, Roy Salvadori, Mike Hawthorn and Jean Behra.

While Salvadori and Moss took 250Fs to victories in the 1956 and ’57 Glover Trophy races at Goodwood, the most famous win for the car came in the latter year’s German Grand Prix; won by Fangio after the Argentinian overturned an almost insurmountable deficit at the fearsome Nurburgring to memorably catch and pass the Ferraris of Hawthorn and Peter Collins near the finish and clinch his fifth world title. That car, and several others, will join the race machines for a pair of high-speed demonstrations during the weekend.

All 250Fs will be housed in the main paddock, which will resemble the adrenaline-fuelled Monza pitlane of 1954 at the Revival this year and is sure to be a highly-popular attraction for visitors to the Revival in September.

MARUSSIA FORMULA 1 DRIVER MAX
CHILTON TO RACE AT GOODWOOD REVIVAL

Marussia Formula 1 driver Max Chilton will become the first contemporary grand prix racer
for nine years to contest the Goodwood Revival when he climbs behind the wheel for the
September 12-14 event.

British racer Chilton, who is in his second year of F1 with the team, will race in the Shelby
Cup, a one-off event being held to mark 60 years of the small-block V8 engine and the 50th
anniversary of one of the most iconic cars to ever use the powerplant, the Ford Mustang.
With only cars powered by small-block V8s eligible for the race, Chilton will share a 1965
Mustang with Richard Dutton, boss of hugely-successful junior single-seater squad Fortec
Motorsport.

The last F1 race driver to take part at the Revival was Vitantonio Liuzzi in 2005, while former
world champion Damon Hill was also an active grand prix competitor when he raced at the
inaugural event in 1998.

‘Mr Bean’ actor Rowan Atkinson, who has become a Goodwood regular in recent years, will
race a 1964 Ford Falcon while former British Touring Car champions Matt Neal and Gordon
Shedden will drive, respectively, a Studebaker Lark 500 and a Mustang.

Reigning BTCC champion Andrew Jordan, who will also race in the St Mary’s Trophy and
the RAC TT Celebration, will partner Oliver Bryant in a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda while his
father Mike – also a BTCC racewinner – will share Andy Yool’s Mustang.

Touring car legends Anthony Reid and Steve Soper will be out in force; Reid a Dodge Dart
and Soper sharing a Mustang with another star of Super Touring, Patrick Watts, while fivetime
Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro will be in Roger Wills’ Mercury Comet Cyclone.

Mat Jackson, a 19-time racewinner in the BTCC, will share Henry Mann’s Mustang, run in
the legendary red and gold livery of Alan Mann Racing while sportscar legend Henri
Pescarolo will share Robert Sarrailh’s Ford Falcon Sprint.

GOODWOOD REVIVAL TO CELEBRATE 50th
ANNIVERSARY OF SIR JACKIE STEWART’S
‘DISCOVERY’ WITH SPECIAL PARADE.

This year’s Goodwood Revival will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sir Jackie Stewart’s
‘discovery’ with a trio of special parades that will honour the three-time Formula 1 world
champion during the September 12-14 event.

Already making waves in sportscar racing, Stewart was spotted testing in early 1964 by
Goodwood track manager Robin Mackay, who helped to arrange a Formula 3 trial at the
circuit with Ken Tyrrell’s team that went on to open the door to worldwide stardom for the
then 24-year-old young Scottish racer.

The very Cooper T72-BMC he drove during that test is one of 24 cars that will form of the
tribute to Stewart. His three Formula 1 World Championship titles will be marked by a 1969
Matra MS80-Cosworth and a Tyrrell 006 of 1973 period.
The Lola T90-Ford, which famously broke down during the closing stages of the 1966 Indy
500 while Stewart was over a lap ahead of the field, will feature, as will the BRM P261 in
which he claimed his maiden F1 World Championship race win at Monza in 1965.

Stewart’s sportscar successes will be represented by machinery as diverse as a Ford GT40,
two open-topped Lola T70 Spyders and both Jaguar and Buick-engined Ecurie Ecosse
Tojeiros that provided the platform for much of his early success, plus a sensational Ferrari
330 P4 he raced in 1967 as part of a squad of drivers that helped the Scuderia win that
year’s World Sportscar Championship.

Stewart will take part in each of the three parades. One will be held in the afternoon of each
of the days of the 2014 Revival.

GOODWOOD REVIVAL BRINGS STONEHENGE TO WEST SUSSEX THIS SEPTEMBER.

Where else in the world can you see a full scale model of Stonehenge, the largest gathering of Jaguar D-Types in history and Mods and Rockers duking it out on Brighton Pier without leaving the confines of a race track? At the Goodwood Revival of course, which takes place from 12–14 September at the iconic Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Keen to save motorists from the South East the journey to the West Country, the world famous Goodwood Revival continues its tradition of stunning displays and authentic set dressing with the most extreme example to date, in the shape of a full-scale Stonehenge installation at the ultra-fast 2.4-mile circuit.

Commissioned by Lord March to be larger than the original, and to be viewed by 150,000 Revival visitors – a greater number than the entire UK population 5000 years ago - the installation will be in place exclusively for the Revival weekend in celebration of the pre-historic monument’s 99 years in safe hands, after it was bought at auction in 1915 by Cecil Chubb for £6,600 (£500,000 in today’s money).

Some say it was bought to prevent shipment to America, and it is suggested that the Goodwood version may be offered up for sale after the Revival to offer potential US buyers another chance to take Stonehenge stateside!

A number of druids will attend to mark the occasion – as well as the 50th anniversary of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, and will be invited to enact rituals and ceremonies at the site – though the rain dance is banned! Unlike the original, guests will be invited into the monument site, making it a must-visit UK ‘selfie’ destination this September.

GOODWOOD NAMES NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM AS REVIVAL BENEFICIARY.

Goodwood is delighted to announce that the 2014 Revival Beneficiary will be the National Motor Museum Trust at Beaulieu.

The National Motor Museum Trust at Beaulieu is a charitable organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting motoring history. It has a world-famous collection of vehicles as well as extensive collections of motoring-related items – including motoring objects, film and photographic images, documents and books.

Thanks to Revival visitors’ generosity, the National Motor Museum will undertake work to ensure that one of Britain’s most iconic grand prix cars of the post-war era, the 1950 BRM V16 Type 15, remains in running order for many years to come.

The car took its maiden race victory, with Reg Parnell behind the wheel, at Goodwood in September 1950 in the Woodcote Cup and added another win later the same day in the Goodwood Trophy race for Formula 1 machines against a line-up that included Sir Stirling Moss and future Le Mans winner Duncan Hamilton. It has maintained links to Goodwood ever since and was last seen at the Festival of Speed in 2012.

The Revival’s official charity partner, The Richard Burns Foundation, will collect donations across the race weekend.

The RBF, named in memory of the late 2001 World Rally Champion, aims to help people affected by serious illness or injury. Its patrons include Burns’s former co-driver Robert Reid, two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm and Sebring 12 Hours-winning sportscar driver Marino Franchitti, who will also race at The Revival next month.
