Indulge me here Very Happy

Looking at this winter and various projects, one is to possibly convert the Singer from dynamo to alternator, nothing wrong with my dynamo but looking to do a lot more miles next year and hope to get really good reliability.
Having done a bit of reading, I am thinking of using one of these units

http://www.powerlite-units.com/about-dynalites/

and one of their dummy RB340 control boxes.

The wiring side doesnt seem too hard (even for me) and the set up will look pretty stock.

Any thoughts?

Kev

The RB340 control box is really quite intelligent. Unless you are planning to add lots of extra heavy electrical loads then I'd just stick with your existing dynamo.

I agree 2 of our classics have been "converted" to what was standard on later models - the other 5 are as standard dynos

Even three-brush pre-war Lucas systems are extremely reliable and greatly under-rated these days. Beware of modification for its own sake!
