I seem to remember a thread on the forum about screw thread forms, tpi's etc. but can't find it.
This has been posted on another forum and I'm sure it can be answered by someone on here
Quote:
I have posted before that the awkward nuts holding the top stud of headlamp bezel can be replaced by SS wing nuts, to ease bulb replacement.
The puzzle is that metric M5 fits. An M5 die runs down the thread perfectly, although the wing nut wobbles slightly. I can't find any Imperial or US thread forms to match M5. M5 has a pitch of 0.8mm or 20.3 tpi.
So thinking caps on, please! Or am I missing the obvious- that a metric thread was used?

I think this is on a 1956 100e Anglia

It may be 2BA
Major dia 4.7 x .81 pitch.
A M5 nut will fit but be wobbly as you describe.

Roger,
If it;s on a Ford the betting is that it will be 10/32 UNF which is essentially the same as 2BA with maybe a difference in the heads.
