Here is my 1970 Bedford Vas with Strachens coachwork.
Slowly being restored to hopefully a high standard.
Originaly regitered as an ambulance it has a great engine having only covered 70.000 miles. It spent the last 8 years being used as a shoot bus on a farm. Externally it is in very good shape, however the chassis is another story.
When I aquired it it had built up a layer of perminent mud 6" thick all over the underside and as a result the chassis is in a poor state. I am having the whole lot shot blasted in the spring! At the moment I am replacing all brake pipes and cylinders.
I will post more photos as I go along with it!

Bodywork looks ok, a very worthy project. |

Bad news on the bus restoration. The windscreen has been smashed by vandals! Finding a new one is going to be very difficult. Maybe someone here can help? It is possible that the windscreen was used by other coachbuilders but I don't know. Maybe somebody on this forum does? Without a new screen its practically a right off!

Have you put the word out in the classic bus press, to see if anyone has ideas for sourcing a replacement? not that you'd want to fit it just yet, in case it happened again ....

You're quite right Rick, I certainly wont be replacing the window while its parked where it is at the moment! A side window was also smashed but that's not such a problem as its flat glass. I have put the word out in a few places and was also thinking of a day out at Rush green motors. They have 40 acres of vintage comercial vehicles and I have always managed to find spares there in the past, although I have a feeling that this time wont be so easy! |

Always wanted to go to Rush Green. Heard a lot about the prices of buying vehicles from there. |
