Bullit, Vanishing Point (the original, not the crummy remake). White Lightning, Bonnie and Clyde, for thirties cars.

As American films are being nominated, does anybody remember "Two Lane Blacktop" from 1971 with James Taylor (Beach Boys drummer) and Warren Oates?

Great road movie.

Yes, that's been on TV recently and I recently got a copy on Blu-Ray from a bargain outlet. In fact James Taylor has been on TV recently a few times, got a lot less hair now.

I'm with you there! Probably my favourite film let alone favourite car related film!

Also love Genevieve and montecarlo or bust. Does anyone know if or when Montecarlo or bust is available on DVD? Already have the other 2.

PS Disney's Cars 2 is good! has loads of "classics" in it!

I would also go for Genevieve.
The street scenes are great.
There is a glimpse of a car transporter loaded with brand new cars of the period.
I also noted in these pre-breathalyzer days that attitudes to having a drink and then driving were pretty lax.

The original 'Gone in 60 Seconds' was very good if you enjoy Mustang car chases!

I'm with you on that... I must have watched it now 50 times or more and it started my 12 year love / hate relationship with my '32 coupe, 5 window hotrod.

Also, although not specifically a film, but the "Look at Life" episodes available on Youtube are great for 60's street scenes.

For me it's the Rover P5B Coupe featured in 'Villain', made in 1970 with Richard Burton, Ian McShane and various other Brit stalwarts...

I liked Hell Drivers. With Patrick McGoohan and them Dodge Kew Trucks.

The film was released on DVD in 2007 with many extras on the film including documentaries.

Agreed, that'd be on my list, and "Duel" of course.

Not a movie, but a TV Series. Foyles War. Nice old classics and WW2 Army stuff in that series.

Well, we live and learn! I enjoyed Hell Drivers, but the fact that the trucks were Dodge Kews surprised me, I had always assumed them to be Leyland Comets! Thanks for the correction! I'm certainly not very knowledgeable regarding truck identification!

I also enjoyed Cannonball Run as well as Smokey and the Bandit (or at least the first ones of each!)
