I wonder what the spare parts situation is for something like this, a 1950 Salmson? Have to say, I do like the look of it a lot Smile

Nice looking engine.

I wonder what country it was initially sold in? Sweden perhaps?

You obviously have good taste, Rick. I would put this on a par with the Lea Francis that was featured on here and I think there's the same risk from the body snatchers because the sports car versions are so valuable and the twin cam engine is much sought after; although the French Salmson has a separate starter and dynamo (like my Dodge) where the British Salmson has a Dynamoter situated under the front of the radiator (and looks like a supercharger) so it might not be quite as suitable; I don't know.

There is a small club for Salmson and British Salmson and they claim to have a good spares situation but spares are likely to be very expensive. I do know that there are some things to look out for with these engines i.e. cracks, low oil pressure, oil leaks from back of crankshaft and head gasket failure but don't be put off.
