Today I went to a small car boot sale and bought, in reasonable condition, a 1922 13th edition of Dykes Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia (Colonial spelling) for the princely sum of £1.
It's a bit like Audel's automobile guides and is fascinating reading if you like early American stuff like how to build a "hot" Model T Ford, or a radiator re-soldering solder bath. (health and safety adherents better not read this book!) |

Good finding, Big John.
Many years ago, I had a couple of copies of Dykes. IIRC 1919 and 1926.
A valuable source of information. Unfortunately mine disappeared during a move. I'd like to find copies again. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |
