As I prepare a new update to post, I decided to post a photo of the rear spring pins, as I need to get them out but the puller shown on page 81 of the Austin Seven Companion publication won't work!

That bl@@dy collar has put a mocker on things big time:

Suggestions on removal please.
I haven't put a screwdriver between collar and axle to see if I can lever them out, yet that is.

Cotter pins had to be drilled out and will feature in the update mentioned above.

Geoff - Rear springs have grooves worn in them and need replacing.

Geoff,

Does that pin screw into the casting on the R/S of the picture? If so have you tried double nuts on the threaded part and try to 'unwind' it? Tighten both nuts against each other and put the spanner on the inner nut.

Hello Art,
If only it was that simple.
The pins are an interference fit, hence needing that special puller, or bashing it out using a drift poked through a hole in the backplate.
Your suggestion may well be worth trying to see if I can get the pins to rotate.
Have been offered the use of a slide hammer, so that should shift them.
Will make a copy of that hammer as I will no doubt use it on the other cars when the time comes.

Geoff - I must stop myself falling asleep in the armchair.

Just realised I haven't updated this thread.
Details of how I got them out can be found on Page 5 of my Rejuvenation Thread.

Geoff - Computer battles today Sad
