Rumour has it that in its day the Triumph 2000 or 2500 was voted towcar of the year - does anyone have anything to support this? _________________ David Rachel

And I have Autocar back to 1954 here - most issues! so perhaps it may be in there if a rough idea of date can be found. |

I'm afraid not, it's just what several people in the Triumph 2000 Register say when they are selling the merits of the car; there's often some element of truth behind rumours but I've not been able to find anything apart from what's already been posted on this thread _________________ David Rachel

the triumph 2000 was the car of choice for some manufactures when competing in the caravan rallies that took place in a bygone age

My 2000 Mk1 was in daily use for over two years, never had any overheating issues when we decided to go on our summer 2001 holiday with it, towing our 1971 Constructam caravan. We went to the south of France but had a hard time. It was hot, the car was fully loaded as was the caravan and there were long hills. The radiator cooked so we had to stop - and go with long intervals to the nearest camp site. I had my brother send over an extra electric fan and installed that to the front of the radiator at the camping site after which the car went without troubles.
The caravan was of this type:
