Hi Folks, I am a new member here and have a Singer Vogue in need of restoration. It needs a LOT of welding as large chunks of the chassis are missing. I hope with the help and encouragement on members I can get it done. Does anyone have any decent photos of the underside of the car. I have trawled the internet but can't find anything decent to use as a guide. I look forward to any advice offered. Best regards, Norman

Welcome to the forum Norman, hopefully some usable images will turn up. It must be pretty poor if there's not enough left to use as a pattern, has it been particularly badly stored in the past?

Hi Rick, It has been badly repaired and bodged in the past. When I bought the car it came with a years' mot, but I strongly suspect it never saw the mot station. Someone made sills for it which went from the door step to the far side of the chassis leg effectively hiding the missing chassis leg. I like most people had my rose tinted glasses on when I bought it. You live and learn. Norman

Hi Norman

Try ringing speedy spares and see what repair panels are available, they are helpful and may know of a source.

I have a 1965 Singer Vogue that thankfully was well stored so hasn't been welded.
Break the work down into small chunks and you will end up with a lovely useable practical classic.

Hi Kev, I have been in touch with Speedy Spares already for some parts. I don't think there are any after market chassis repair parts for these. Expressed steel panels still make some body repair section at a cost, I believe the service isn't great. I have a few parts from Sunbeam-Alpine? and they keep some body parts that Expressed steel supply. I have some parts for the car including sills, front wing repair sections, a rear wheel arch repair section o/s. This will take me a while as I am rather slow at making progress. I have to keep leaving it to get on with paid work. Norman

Hi
A long time ago there was a thread on here somewhere, which showed the work of some "tin bashers" in India or Indonesia (somewhere out there anyway)
They were making 3dimensional panels from sheet steel just using panel beaters hammers and a sandbag and I think following a drawing of the parts required.

Although I'm loathed to mention other forums Wink this thread has a few underside shots of a Super Minx estate, which may well be similar. It may give a few pointers if nothing else ..

The underside of a saloon Super Minx appears in this advert on C&C
