Hi, I discovered a bad oil leak(are there good ones?) between the engine & gearbox - instant diagnosis rear oil seal. Obtained half engine gasket set & clutch(although that seemed fine) in case of oil on the plate. Exhaust down pipes off, gearbox out, flywheel off - perfectly dry rear seal. Fitted rear seal anyway & then noticed oil coming from tin can that seals the end of the balance shaft. Had one in the kit so no problem to fit with plenty Hylomar on the rubber. Clutch was fine so it went back. Same repair needed for either leak point so nothing lost & peace of mind gained. The joys of classic mooring, cheers,JD.
