I spotted these in a storage lot

Rambler and Alfa not sure the model or year on both
If I could only have one I'd take the Rambler but the Alfa looks like more fun for a shorter guy than me

Hi
Seen tonight on Springwatch, Episode 2, BBC2.

Part of the former RAF Windrush

There was also a clip of a scrap yard going back to nature, around 4-5 mins from about 45 mins just after the hare/leveret.
It may be from the same site but they didn't say for sure.

Many years ago I gave a young man a very rusty P1800 Volvo I had behind my shop, he pulled the steering wheel and the overdrive transmission and put them in this 1968 144s. His folks bought the car new and gave it to their son after 12 years use.
He sold the car in 1994 the next owner drove it till 1999 when the hood release cable broke. They could not check the oil, So it sat , the squirrels moved in and filled everywhere they could with Spruce cones. Glove box was full- air filter was stuffed.
I was offered the car and how could I refuse.
The doors all opened and shut with a solid feel. Leather seats are not ripped.

I pulled it out of it's long term parking spot. The engine would spin by spinning the fan blade. So I cleaned out all the cones, changed the oil and filter. In the glove box there were a set of new spark plugs- I pulled the plugs and put some oil in each hole. I cleaned the distributor and found that it has a electronic ignition to replace the points.
Disconnected the fuel line and with a fresh battery spun it for while with the plugs out.
I hooked up a marine outboard fuel tank.

It started with lots of smoke . Then cleared all the extra oil and ran quite smooth.
The engine has a down draft carburetor and tuned exhaust manifold.
Master cylinder was empty so I added some fresh brake fluid - didn't help.
I figured that it was time for a drive relying on the parking brake to stop.
I put the outboard fuel tank on the passenger seat and ran the fuel hose out the window.
Since the fuel tank was now in the cab at least I better have a fire extinguisher so I drove up to my VW Eurovan to grab one of the two extinguishers we have inside .
I tried to exit but the drivers door would not open from the inside - I changed my mind and parked it until I get time to fix the door.
I love finding old tools and the Snap On 8 inch adjustable wrench might be handy some day.
Classic - The B20 Volvo is in my top 5 all time favorite engines
I know how to have a good time
cheers
Hank

Nice story Hank, reminds me of the 144S that dad had in the 1970s. Didn't the S have twin carbs as standard, or was that a European market thing?

Yes the S had twin SU in Canada, on the two that I had.
The original owners son installed the twin barrel carb down draft carb and the tuned exhaust along with a small air dam under the front bumper.
Very comfy touring car

Discovered in deepest Cambridgeshire:

Apparently there's also a Triumph Renown in a shed, but we couldn't even find the shed!
