Hi All
Started to have a look at the sunroof today
In the picture I have circled 4 screws holding 2 cross members in place
Im am assuming thats wrong and they should be able to move freely
Also looks like 4 notches cut in to each, assuming they should have webbing or leather connecting them together

Steve, I'm trying to understand what I am seeing! Are you sure this was ever a sunroof? It looks like a fixed fabric roof to me.
A wider shot of the whole roof would be a help because I am wondering about the front part which does look as if it would slide towards the wooden slats. |

It looks like a sliding roof that the sliding area has leaked, and a solid piece of aluminium pop rivetted over the whole are, front and back. This has then been removed, hence the line of drilled out rivets showing. The edges of the moving section appear to have been moved to the centre of the aperture to support the alloy plate. A common bodge I think. |

What car is it?
The picture looks like the rear section is open, where it is more normal for the front section to open. _________________ old tourer

These may be useful to anyone doing a similar refurbishment.

1935Hillman has obviously gone to some lengths to provide the OP with a lot of information to answer his original question, probably digging through a pile of old magazines to do so.
Am I missing something but why hasn't Stevefizz had the courtesy to say "Thank you" to 1935Hillman?
(I know it's an old thread but that's not the point). |

I am also struggling with the refurbishment of the sunroof on my1936 ITriumph Gloria.I have replaced the angle strips and plywood that the sliding section fits onto, but at this moment it will not slide without catching and locking
It's all very frustrating. The roof is not square, the inside side slide rails are not the same depth from the roof and I have yet to figure out how it will all be watertight.
