I haven't restored an old boat but I came across this blog on the subject that makes interesting reading and is hilarious:

p.s. I used to give my father the Giles Annual for Christmas each year and I have inherited them.

Are you thinking of power or sail?
I have heard that sailing is like standing in a shower and tearing up twenty pound notes. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Some way down in our 'round tuit' queue there is a a boat!
A Moonfleet Silver Shadow which is a 4/5 seat speed sports boat produced just down the road from us at Penarth during the early 60's.
Bought solely because I thought it would look good as an accessory for the Zodiac, I have no serious intention of going to sea in the thing - Much too 'Tupperware' for me!
Turns out to have been a prototype for a turbo jet version using a Hamilton turbo drive system which was dismantled but appears to be mostly there. Ebay yielded a marinised Cortina engine so I'm running out of excuses for why it is not being restored.
Interesting reading on the Classic Motor Boat Club's website. Google CMBA. |
