Ive just joined the forum and would just like to show you my recent purchase a 1971 Maxi 1500 in Black Tulip with Geranium Red trim,, Shes running but will need a new drivers side sill fitting and some interior cosmetics doing

She has quite some history and was originally supplied by Lookers of Leeds on Burley Road(which later became the Yorkshire TV Studios, before turning into the Emmerdale Experience today)

Am hoping to do a rolling resto but if funds are available I would like to do a proper engine/subframe out job

The interior is superb but needs a few cosmetics

Shes mostly original

I just need one piece of help Would anybody know if Lookers did original dealer wallets and if they did.. has anyone got one from Lookers of Leeds?

Many Thanks for now

Ian

Nice! IMHO a very much underrated motor! I had a similar vintage 1750 and later a 1980 1750. Unless they have changed it, do not try doing a gearbox overhaul with Mr Haynes help. He did not seem to realise that the car had a 5 speed gearbox back then!

A super hatchback when all else you could buy were lumbering estates (Renault 16 excepted). How did BMBLLeylandrover whatever they were called that week, fail to capitalise?
