Morning all,

Big old lumps like this appeal to me a lot, and I nearly bought one of these a year or so back (admittedly for much less than the opening bid price for this one).

Around 20 of these were built in all. A few were built as racing car transporters from the outset, but most went into service around the world as technical support/training vehicles for BMC staff. A number of these tech support vehicles have been converted into transporters in recent times, and I'd expect it to happen with this one, given how popular they are.

Think I saw a similar vehicle a while back on 'chasing classic cars' .
