Hello!
The young and beautiful drivers of these cars had fun at a small village in Normandy last week.
Do you have any idea what cars they drove? For me they look like enthousiast-built sports-cars of the late twentys or early thrities (the blue one has only front breaks). The air scoop on the yellow is apparently an afterwar addition as well as the rear mirrors. As they have two seats, they were apparently not meant for track racing. They were tiny, distincitvly smaller than a Bugatti and an Alfa Romeo 1750SS, but at least the yellow looks heftier than an Austin Seven to me. Instruments in one of them were real late 20/early 30s. Amazing noise and an apparently long first gear indicate that they were meant to be driven fast.

I'd be grateful for any tips you can give.

Kind regards
Alexander

Although right hand drive they wouldn't be road legal in the UK (no mud guards).

Maybe some requirements are waived due to grandfather rights?
Even here in Germany the requirements for safety belts, headlight positioning, passenger department heating and venting, two brake lights etc. etc. can be dispensed with according to the year of registration.

They are both modern-day specials built around early 1920s GN chassis; both are well-known British VSCC cars and yes, they are driven like that in the UK (illegally!).They were built for Vintage racing, and I think they both have Model A Ford engines.

They would have originally looked like this:

So the reglement requires contemporary parts, everything else is free? That would explain that nothing (except the ram air inlet and the mirrors) looked too much out of age. And the tinkerer-aspect of the drivers was not attitude, but just just like that.
Do you have any references to this kind/class of historic racing or the cars?

If you search Google and YouTube for VSCC GN racing you'll find plenty to fill your evenings! Here's an example:

Thanks for all the informations. I found them: in fact, the yellow car has a GN logo painted the grille

and the blue one says Frazer-Nash in front.

The yellow one has hydraulic brakes - coward.

Seeing and hearing the cars put a smile on my face that stayed for a very long time
