The sidelights on my LD10 are missing the innards and glass, all I have is the chrome body. Is there a way of purchasing these items? I know there are reproductions of the whole but I'd rather not go there unless absolutely necessary. They are the 5cmx5cm -ish type.

Hi Sid.
According to the Lucas 400 catalogue your sidelights are most probably Lucas Model LBD109A, part number 52057A.
The lens for this is 571211.
Reflector 525849.
Bulb holder 571197.
These parts may be common to a large number of Lucas lamps so if you can't get them from that particular lamp, probably any Lucas 109 model will be a close bet.
If you download the 400 E catalogue it makes interesting reading and you can find other models using the same lamps so it widens the scope to find what you are looking for. Best bet though will be the autojumble at the shows.
I did discover an enormous stock of Lucas stuff at Classic Dynamos in Shirebrook some time ago. Might be worth a try:

Thanks Peter, Lucas catalogue duly downloaded. I'll give Classic Dynamos a try. |

If sourcing the original innards proves a problem, you could get glass cut at any glazing firm, and use torch reflectors; Magnite sell spare reflectors for their torches.

Good idea. You certainly have to think outside the box in this game don't you. |
