Thanks Peter. I first saw this delightful film in the early 1960's. It was at a club event and was on 16mm film. I have seen it very many times since, and again just now. It never fails to please.

What a superb little film, the nostalgia, the cars and that Morris are lovely.
Never even heard of it before. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Interesting to get more of the car's history. The Reel Streets photos are interesting too. Blackwell Cottage has clearly changed somewhat in the intervening years.
Some years ago I was in touch with Lytton Jarman who co-wrote two of the seminal books on Bullnose Morris cars.

Lytton rescued a Bullnose from a scrap yard in very similar condition to that in the Home Made Car film and used it as his sole means of transport for much of his life.

Indeed, a delightful film...thanks for posting it up.
Should I worry...if I have a similar tracking tool to the one used in the garage?
Gave it a new home after it was replaced by an all-singing', all dancin' item when my bus company employer changed their tyre contract.
25 years I've dragged it around various homes.... the bar is very long!
I also recall creating much amusement/amazement when my bus fitter chum, & myself, made use of the workshop's oxy gear, and a very big vice, plus a very long bar......to straighten [pretty much] a Model Y Ford front axle!! |

One thing which gave me a giggle was the chap supposedly pushing the hand cart with the chassis frame on it from his home in Cambridge Road West on the edge of Farnborough airdrome to the garage in Bucks Horn Oak which is miles away! He would have had to push it to Farnham, through the town, (there was no by pass then) and then somehow struggle up Wrecclesham Hill and then on across the common land to Alice Holt garage. Then, having fixed the chassis, walked all the way back again!
What you might call artistic license.

I got caught the other way around. I didn't know about the Reel Streets site and having located the garage looked around the area attempting to find the house address. Needless to say I failed.
