Evening folks

Is there one accessory that would really suit your car, one that you're eagerly hunting down at this time? Or, have you already managed to find that "holy grail" item for your specific vehicle?

I would have liked an original overdrive for my TR4 and looked for one for years but these command high prices - too high for me. So I bought a J-type overdrive which was fitted to a Saloon. This can be fitted to the TR with some adaptions. I have yet to install it.

For my Westminster I would have liked power steering but this cannot be found anywhere being a LHD system. The best alternative, and a good one too, is to fit a modern electric PS. This will be done when I get the car ready sometime in the future!

My Jaguar 420 was fitted with an airconditioning when new (in the USA) but a PO had thrown this away. I managed to find AC brackets for the pump and even found the boot-mounted evaporator. Again this still has to be fitted!

So, no real wishes or accessoires to be found for my cars.

Are there no rules about fitting AC where you are? I am pretty sure here in the U.K. you need to be licensed to do it.(whatever it is they do)?

I may have one. I'll look in my shed tomorrow in the daylight.

No, not now. There used to be that rule but it has been withdrawn since about 5 years. The main point is that you need equipment to fill the system, and that equipment is not cheap which means only garages owne these.
Anyone can build / install a system (there are lovely aftermarket systems in the USA, VintageAir is just an example of a company who sell generic kits) but in the end it needs to be leak proof because otherwise it will not work!

Ooh. I'll get a pic of the wreckage of the one found in the boot. Smile

If I were using my car at this time of year I might want a windscreen demister.

That said, I really don't like accessories in general. I just think they they look messy.

I think a rear view mirror mounted on a leather pad to be strapped to the spare wheel would be a help and look "COOL"!

There is a leather worker nearby, so when the vehicle is finally on the road...

Cheers Tony. Have a "Cool Yule Y'all".
