Hi Everyone. I am 96% finished with a total rebuild of my 1935 Morris 8. It looks great, but the little things are my real problem. Mostly a few bits and pieces for the dash. I have found an original speedo from my friend Dave in the UK, but am looking for the following
1. Petrol gauge and sender unit
2. Chock cable and knob
3. Slow running cable and knob
4. That red light for ignition with the silver surround
5. charge gauge
6. Oil pressure gauge

I have a Smith FN speedo in pretty good condition to swap for all or some of the above. I think that it was for a Morris Minor around 1930. It has the numbers appearing in little round windows. Can send photo of speedo if wanted.

As mentioned in the joining email, there are a couple of T&C with regard to adverts:

Mike,

Your best bet for sourcing the parts you need is to join either the Morris Register in Britain or the Morris 8 Tourer Club based in Christchurch, NZ—or both.

The MR has a first-rate forum where you'll find expert advice and technical articles, and a section for adverts.

The M8TC will give you access to a comprehensive selection of parts both new and used, and is probably your best source for the items listed. Quite possibly they would be able to supply a complete instrument panel including cables, which is more or less what you need.

Both clubs can be located via Google.

Be aware that there are two types of fuel sender and gauge, and they are incompatible. Your 1935 model should have the Smiths G33 type, whereas later models had the G35. If you try to mix them you'll be in for some nasty surprises.

Also note that the ignition warning lamp has a 2.5v bulb and fine resistor wire wound around the outside of it, which is easily damaged and should therefore be treated with great care.

Richard
