Hi all,

Brian M recently celebrated a personal motoring milestone in another thread. Are there any anniversaries taking place this year that you're making a note to remember about? Perhaps relating to your choice of wheels, a significant date in your own motoring past, or something else?

What significant dates in terms of motoring as a whole occur this year?

RJ

Shelsley Walsh in June. 70th anniversary of the XK. I was at the 50th and 60th but don't expect to be at the 80th!

And then of course there is the Le Mans Clasisc if, as one driver who won't be there said to me, "a track day for rich granddads with more money than sense". I must admit I do have some sympathy with the comment when I look at amateurs racing 935 Porsches at night in the rain.

It's fifty years since I was involved in the start-up of the Sheffield Austin Seven group - we are planning an Anniversary Run, probably in June.

On the 16th of February 1993 I bought the kit of parts that became my SS Jaguar. So 25th anniversary.

This year will be 20 years since we bought our first garage (oh and the first house too) Wink, and 15 since we moved here. We'll have to get a cake.

I managed to miss the MGB's 40th birthday last month, ah well.

Sixty years ago, I was hunting for a suitable historic vehicle to buy. The said vehicle was acquired two years later and would be 100 years old this year (1918 TT Ford one ton truck).

Fifty years ago this December, got married. (we are still together)
Fifty years ago later December made my third, and my wife's first visit to New Zealand.

Sorry to be unclear, I was just ordering the home purchase in order of priority - garage first priority, followed by the house alongside Smile

I've yet to buy a commercial garage, and doubt I ever will!
