Wowzers that was a close call. Admittedly the lorry didn't cover himself in glory by apparently undertaking the caravanners (did the Volvo begin a move to the inside lane, but back out when they spotted the lorry?). Did the Volvo driver forget for a moment that they had a caravan on the back?????? Shocked

Hi
I had a narrow escape, recently, on the M62 when one of those 4door pickups towng a 3 axle livestock trailer started to cut in to my lane while his trailer axles were still level with my front wheels.

Caravan driver would have been better off using their indicators correctly.

Looking at the video, [2 lanes going to 3..].....the caravan driver realised they needed to move to the new left lane....but saw the lorry approaching up the left side, so flapped, and reverted to centre lane.

Like far too many drivers [in this country]...on a multi lane carriageway...the use of indicators to signify intention is, at worst non-existent, at best a token gesture.

Too many drivers only use the indicator, pretty much at the instant they carry out their intention.

Too busy looking in the mirror [no bad thing in itself]....but failing to comprehend they have to actually tell others what they want to do, in good time, before they do it. They don't seem to grasp the concept of giving other road users time to see an indication, and to act on it.

Folk think they mustn't use the indicator if they can see another vehicle coming up!
Rather than looking [mirror], then deciding whether the other road users need to be informed [indicator]....then observing how the other road users are responding to that indicator. Before they carry out their indicated intention.

Why did the Volvo driver feel the need to accelerate to get back in front of the lorry? [Was there a stream of traffic behind the lorry, in the left lane......further compounding the volvo driver's flap mode?]

If everybody had simply carried on, basically 'doing nothing'...perhaps the situation may not have arisen?
Flap, panic, pig-headedness, etc on the part of both drivers here.
Volvo driver didn't do his insurance company any favours either....by accelerating, that turned him into an 'overtaking' driver.....who obviously failed to 'pass, clear?' Resulting in the back of the van hitting the front corner of the truck......pretty much turning the situation into a loss of no claims bonus?

Truck driver could have backed off as soon as the Volvo was seen coming past again....but I think Volvo driver may have had it in his head to 'punish ' the truck driver...
