Unusual yes but so ugly. Almost looks like a home made effort. Opel had a lot to learn regarding proportions.

Rick,
Is this an early case of badge engineering. If you recall the Renault was one of the mystery cars and I identified it as the Opel only to be ‘put in my place’ by you insisting it was Renault Javaquare.

I can't say I like the look of the car, I think its the headlamp position that makes it look odd to me. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Hi
Around the late 30s practically everybody had their headlights there but in separate housings, what makes it look odd is that these are faired into the bonnet sides, down to the wings and back to the A post but the wings are still similar to the norm for the time. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I just had a thought. Could this be part of Germany’s war reparations to France. Giving them the designs and tooling to build from what I can see are virtually identical cars. The headlamps in the bonnet were an Opel feature before the war as were the Renaults. Is it possible that two independent design teams coming up with this design at the same time? According Wiki the Russians did get the tooling for the Opel as reparation.
