It hasn't ended yet!!

I am not familiar with these cars...Weren't they of 'unitary construction?'
IE, at this age, no separate chassis?

The sills would be a significant structural part of the car's integrity, I suppose?

Beware the "infinitely variable" independent front suspension. Otherwise known as "knock Knees". A combination of torsion bars and enclosed coil springs. it would be difficult to find any new parts and special tools are required. The suspension gives these otherwise nice cars the disconcerting habit of lifting up at the front under braking.

Unity construction can also be a problem if (as is usually the case) rust has taken hold.

I hadn't heard of that with the suspension.

My 47 Minx is unitary and we found a number of years back the issues with rust in these!
