Coming from someone who is usually ambivalent towards hot rods this strikes me as being a British answer to the Yanks. Beat them at their own game.

It must be stated that no viable MGB was hurt in the making of this beast. Wink

Some years[decades?] ago, a regular Classic Reliability Trials competitor had a spare aircooled VW chassis sitting around. He also had a rotting MGB GT shell doing nowt...so he managed to put the two together.....and entered a few trials with it.

He also did the same with a Reliant Skymitre shell....and even shortened a Skoda Cabriolet [to remove the central rusty bits?]....which proved to be quite effective on a trials section.

Certainly he could ignore enthusiasts' sensibilities when he wanted to.
