|

Hi all,
While I find this era of Cowley a bit boxy, if the price is right then the following '31 saloon would make for a neat "oily rag" project. I'd want to see more of the car's interior - the roof material is shot, but whether the seats and door trims are re-usable or not, isn't known from the listing. Also there's a reference to wood frame issues, so the extent of the woodworm/damp damage would need careful assessment. It'd make for a usable car once done though, and spare parts support for these roomy cars is good overall I believe.

"... restored examples fetch close to 20k". 20k what? Certainly not pounds! I couldn't get more than £10,000 for my beautifully restored example a couple of years ago, and prices have, if anything, dropped since then. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

What a coincidence! My 27/28 Cowley finally left my ownership yesterday. I have owned it since 1984, but as I've always been an Austin man, I've always disliked it.
Anyway, when a Club member asked me if I would sell it to him, I couldn't stop nodding. I watched it pull out of my driveway on his tandem trailer with a broad smile on my face. And no, I didn't get much for it at all!

Its weird being the same age as old people.

I would suspect from the description this is more than an oily rag restoration, especially when mentioning the timber frame needs work. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
