The first of the new model Rover was shown at Earl's Court Motor Show late in 1949 as the 1950 model. In later years the model was called the 'P4' and the model continued, with some alterations until 1963. The 1950 model sported lots of innovative features that were discontinued for subsequent models.
As my wife and I are the owners of the only operational 1950 model in Victoria, we attended an 'All British' car get-together at Yarra Glen, outside of Melbourne. One of the attendees offered to take a photo of us and our black car. The green car alongside ours is one of the much less rare 1951 models.
It was a warm day (about 33 degrees) and we had been delayed getting there so were disinclined to wander far to photograph and study other vehicles. The Rover Car Club of Australia, and the Rover P4 Drivers guild fielded a good collection of Rover vehicles.
