MIDLANDS ‘MOTORFEST’ BRINGS EGG-STRA MOTORING FUN OVER THE EASTER WEEKEND.

This year’s Midlands’ Motorfest is shaping up to be the best yet as it prepares for an Easter weekend of motoring madness and family fun.

Held on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd April at the new location of the stunning Chetwynd Deer Park in Newport, up to 1,000 classic and vintage vehicles are expected across the two-day event.

Gemini Events Director Stephen Smith said: “We can’t wait to kick off our calendar of events at such a beautiful location. Being a two-day event, we’ve got a packed timetable of entertainment for both the petrolheads of all ages, from a live arena to musical acts and Disney characters for the kids, so everyone can get into the Festival spirit.”

Midlands’ Motorfest, sponsored by ClassicLine, will see 38 motoring clubs join the festivities with a fantastic mix of marque specific clubs such as the Mercedes Benz Club, Triumph Sport Six Club, Stag Owners Club and TVR Club as well as regional organisations such as Black Country Ford, Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Shropshire and North Staffs, Potteries Vintage Classic Car Club, and South Staffs MG Owners Club.

Private entries on display span nearly 100 years. The oldest is Peter Wright’s rare 1927 Austin 12/4 Iver, repatriated from New Zealand as a non-running wreck and subject to a 15-year restoration, it is only the third time the car has been shown anywhere.

Other rarities include Michael Price’s 1939 MG SA Tourer, believed to be one of just five remaining survivors, with its cutaway doors and flared boot signifying that this was one of the last made.

The 1978 Lincoln Mk5 Diamond Jubilee edition belonging to Terry Green, will be another rare sighting along with Michael Colin’s 1970 Davrian Mk5, one of just 35 made in the early 1970s, with its fibreglass monocoque construction. It previously used components from a Hillman Imp but now boasts a Rover K-Series engine.

With a fantastic array of cars from every decade in between, including a healthy line up of 60s, 70s and 80s classics, John Page’s 2014 Typhoon Mojo and Colin Bailey’s 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition bring things right up to date.

There will also be a wide range of vehicles including vintage commercials, custom cars, vintage caravans and classic and modern motorcycles.

The Live Arena will include car parades and family games as well as the popular ‘Decibel Duel’, a competition to find the loudest engine. There will also be Daily Driver and Pride of Ownership competitions as well as the annual Concours which culminates in the ‘Best in Show’ award at 4pm.

As well as a trader village, there’s plenty of family Easter fun, with live music from The Quik Beats and The Delray Rockets as well as a child friendly disco for the youngsters, free face-painting, an Easter Egg hunt along with an appearance by Disney’s Elsa from the film ‘Frozen’.

Gates open at 10am until 4pm. Admission starts from £6.40 for adults, £3.20 for children (4-16 years), with a family ticket (2 adults & 3 children) for £16 when booked in advance. Tickets also available on the gate. Free parking for all visitors.
