Today I applied another layer of wax to the Riley then spotted what I thought was a blob of mud on the back bumper, went to flick it off and got a rusty splinter under my thumb nail. Oh boy it smarted and as I'm on blood-thinning medication it bled a lot too.

Back indoors I managed to fish out the splinter with tweezers, dabbed on some antiseptic cream and consoled myself with an extra ginger nut with my afternoon tea.

Life, eh...?

You cannot beat an extra ginger nut, (unless it's Chris Evans! Very Happy )

I remember the time he thought the XK engine in his 120 was a V12.!

What a plonker.

When Evans quit Radio 2 it was the best news I'd had in a long time, just a shame they gave Zoe Ball's old Saturday afternoon slot to a complete wally. Sadly all the children out there who think that appearing on reality TV shows is an acceptable substitute for talent don't seem to be far wide of the truth these days. Rant over...

Trying with difficulty to fit original sidelights into the front wings of the Commer lorry.

I find often the small finishing jobs can be quite troublesome.

I spent some time getting a better fit of the Swallow bonnet to the scuttle. The bonnet tape was not thick enough so the edges didn't quite line up. A closed rubber grommet stuck on the underside of each half did the trick. Something that I have been meaning to fix for many years.

My attention has now turned to the paintwork again. One side of the roof has cracked and should be an easy (if time consuming ) repair. Less easy would be the off side front wing which is looking less good now I have finished the near side wing to a nice standard.

Cleaned off the area where the thermostat housing fits on the Commer engine. Its quite hard to get to but the surfaces are now smooth and ready to take a gasket, I will cut one myself. I have been told the housing I have drawn up will be ready in about 7 working days.

We had a great afternoon parked in Chesterfield market place meeting people and talking about the LeJoG drive we start next Thursday. Lots of friendly chat with local people and visitors alike thanks to CBC's Town Centre Manager who let us park in the 'forbidden zone'.

Been to Burton Agnes Hall this lunchtime with No.1 son....[he has a year's entry subscription] . East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club had a big display on... quite impressive, plus, caught up with a couple of old work colleagues....Took Mustang, but not entered, just parked in public car park....quite a task, as every EYTCC parking official tried to direct me to the show entrance....and I just wanted to park up & go for a wander...
Son took loads of photos... On the way back home{?} passed a '40's Chevy{?} who waved at us....

I do like Trundles, Ray...

When we bled the fron brakes on the Commer lorry last winter we had a lot of fluid overrun onto the painted chassis and back of the hubs.
Such a nice day today and with the brakes all finished we rubbed all the affected areas down again and applied a couple coats of top coat.

Its almost there now.
