Get those engines revved up for a day of full-throttle family fun at this year’s Vintage and Classic Car show in Westerham.

The historic and stunning gardens of Valence School will once again provide the perfect backdrop for this annual celebration of rare and unusual automobiles. It’s a chance for enthusiasts to get up-close, take pictures, chat to the owners, and see some marvelous antique motors put through their paces as they roar their way around the famous ‘hill climb’ circuit.

This year’s event, organised by the Friends of Valence School, will be held on May 19 and promises to be a great Kentish garden party, with a BBQ, entertainment, stalls and a licensed bar. Children might also like to jump onto a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica to have a photo taken in the famous car!

Nearly £9,000 was raised at last year’s event, which contributed to the building of an outdoor sensory area. It’s a specialist school for pupils with complex medical needs and physical disabilities. This year’s show aims to be bigger and better with proceeds being used to buy equipment and finance days out. The aim is to provide the children of Valence with a full, enriching and fun educational environment.

The show always attracts hundreds of visitors who love to picnic on the sloping lawns while they watch a glorious cavalcade of cars being put through their paces as they circumnavigate the hill climb.

The Vintage and Classic Car Show, Valence School, Westerham, is on Sunday May 19, from 9am to 5pm.

Spectators pay on arrival - £4 per person under 16, children go free or £10 per car for all occupants. There is ample free parking on-site.

Places for the Hill Sprint are limited, so classic car owners are advised to register early to avoid disappointment. Registration is £20 plus £5 per sprint - to be paid on the day. Registration for the car show is £5.

To take part in the Hill Sprint, please email details of your vehicle, and a photo if possible, to friends@valence.kent.sch.uk.
