I primarily went to this event as the Transpeed Firenza was racing again for the first time in 12 years, after an extensive mechanical and bodywork refurbishment. Sad to say that while it finished the first race it was at the expense of one of the gears, and at the point I left they had decided not to go out for the second race.
Also present was the Vauxhall Cavalier "Mega Bertha". Intended as the next generation following on from the short-lived Ventora-based Big Bertha, and the very successful Firenza-based Baby Bertha, Mega got no further than a silhouette shell, until it was bought a couple of years ago and completed. It was intended to run, but failed a noise test by a whisker and only did some practice.
