A feeling of deja-vu, this time in 2014.

Oddly, the n/s/r door on both lorries had fallen off when I found them.

My Ashley 1172 special being delivered to our previous abode in 2001. I spotted it for sale at an autojumble, and handily the seller was able to drop it around to our place on his way home from the event.

What was the Ashley like to drive Rick? I remember my sister's Prefect was really good off the line but the jump from 2nd into top gear was rather like making that jump in a four speed box.

I never really got it to run properly, it had lots of nice early bits on it including proper old AQ inlet manifold and twin MC2 carburettors, so would probably have been quite lively. None of this repro AQ stuff.

The story went that an unused bodyshell was found in the mid/late 1990s by a well-off chap (he had Maseratis and such like at home), and commissioned someone to build the car up for him, for his wife to use (!). She hated it apparently, and did about 6 miles in it. It passed to the autojumble gent, and I bought it from him.

Last I heard it was in Germany, but whether it's still there or not I've no idea. It had been put together very nicely, and was well finished inside iirc. I'll dig out a few more photos.
