Hi all,

Just re-visiting the tuning company corner of the main site, got me thinking about the old tuning co's that were once around, but are no longer. Did you ever avail yourself of tuning goodies for your car(s) in years past, and were they successful?

In 1966 I did something similar with an Austin 1800 using Downton parts. Bored +80 thou. Twin 1 3/4” carbs, head ported and polished with a ‘bunch of bananas’ exhaust manifold. Balanced and compression upped to about 12:1. The only let down was the low diff. gearing but nothing could beat it for the first 50 yds.

Ah. The only way was to claim the diff from a 1.7 Ambassador automatic. The scrap yards must be littered with them by now. Oh, wait a minute...
