The Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Devon Region held its annual Great West Jaguar & Classic Car Day at the historic Torre Abbey, Torquay on Sunday 30th June.
This was the third year that Torre Abbey had hosted the event, and the English Riviera provided some perfect sunny, car show weather.
It is a special year for the Devon Region – it is celebrating its 30th Anniversary.
The event proved very popular being fully subscribed with over 100 cars on display. The majority of the cars were of course Jaguar’s with most models being represented from across the years – but it was not exclusively Jaguar - there were also other marques on display.
There was a particularly large display of Mark 2 Jaguars in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the model.
The event was supported by local Devon dealership, Matford Jaguar of Exeter – they had a beautiful Jaguar F Type convertible on display.

Thanks for the photos and movie, Riviera Guy, it was a great line-up of Jags.
I only noticed one Mark 2 and an XK120 that was wearing disc wheels. I owned a Mark 2 way back in the late sixties. My car had disc wheels. Very, very few Mark 2s at that time in Victoria, Australia had wire wheels. Nowadays whenever there is a collection of Mark 2s, almost every one has splined wire wheels. Where did they all come from?

Its weird being the same age as old people.

Hi Keith,
Thank you for your feedback - I am pleased that you liked the photos and video.
Yes, it was a great show. As you say, the majority of Mark 2's tend to sport wire wheels......I am sure that maybe not all of them today are in original spec - probably owners wanting to "bling" their cars up with wire wheels.
The only disappointment was the lack of E Types...there were only 2 on show. |
