Hi all,
I am in the process of rebuilding a 1965 Ford Taunus V4 engine. My Dad took this engine apart, but sadly he is no longer with us. Does anybody have a workshop manual for this engine for sale or know where I can buy one from? I found one but it is in German. It is a 17M model. Thanks for now.
Glen

Hi, maybe Pooks (the motor books people) might have something?

Would not a Corsair V4 manual have details?
I have a Ford quick reference catalogue for the V-Taunus engine (big pocket size). It's a 1983 edition but starts at 1969 17m engine and is basically assembly diagrams but no words. It also includes the V6.
Pm me your address you can have it.

Good idea & a generous offer.
I had a 17M for a short while in the 70's - I don't remember the model year, but it didn't have seat belts; since it wasn't UK registered until 72 or thereabouts, I nearly got a ticket for their lack!
Keep in mind the 17M is all-metric, so even wheels from the equivalent UK cars won't fit, although they seem to.

Hi. Thanks Big John for your very generous offer. I already have the Corsair manual, but some things seem different between the Taunus engine and the Corsair engine. I am rebuilding one that my Dad took apart so I would like the manual to be sure things are going together properly. Thanks for now.

Hi Glen, the reference book has the exploded diagrams for everything on the Cologne built engines. The numbers in the book make it easier to find the Ford part numbers on their microfiche system, although it has the part numbers for Weber carburettor.
It appears to be designed so a mechanic keep it in his toolbox drawer and could ring up the parts dept and say item no x on page y, and they would then get the part ordered. It cuts out vague descriptions and is comprehensive down to every washer on the engine and its electrical ancillaries.

Hi BigJohn. Thank you very much for your offer. I think that you book would be very helpful. But I live in Malta. Could I send you a prepaid envelope or something else to cover your expenses? Thanks again

Hi Glenn.
Have you been in touch with Carol Galea at the Malta Classic car museum?
I'm sure he has all manner of reference information to hand as his collection is very extensive.

Just PM your address Glen and I'll post it, that's a lot easier, the book is sat on my desk waiting. I don't think the expense will hurt me Laughing Cheers, John.
