I thought that it was about time that I showed you my classic - a 1976 NSU Ro80 with just 10,000 miles on the clock.
I know that it will be too modern for Mrs Rick but I like it.

What an incredible car! 32 years old and less than 10,000 miles on it! It's a new car still. Don't worry about Mrs Rick, I love it! - Keith D |

A great innovative car with the rotary engine, has it been in your family all its life or you purchased it like that? _________________ www.OldFrenchCars.com

No Greeney, it has not been in the family at all. It was bought by me from ebay. The history is that from 1975 you could only buy a Ro80 by special order. They had to have one in the showroom for demonstration purposes.
Mine was the last showroom display car and was used by a director of VW and then sold to the man I bought it from with 2000 miles on the clock. He already had a Ro80 and kept this one as his 'hobby car' until I bought it last year. The mileage of 9865 was that on the clock when I bought it. I have all the MOT certificates to prove the mileage.
This is the last but one right hand drive car imported. Production of the Ro80 ceased in March 1977. |

There is something very special about any old car with low mileage, which cannot be matched in a restored car, never mind how well done.
That's not meant to be a dig at those who restore cars (including myself) - just love the originality, smells, patina, etc. Nice to see them used, though, albeit lightly, if the owner so-wishes; after all that is how you (and other people) get most pleasure from them. |

nice looking motor rotor, good low mileage unit but sorry to say more of these cars would have been sold in the UK if they had`nt had so much problems with the internal sealing arrangement which did more harm to the engine in short mileage trips. Many ended up with the ford V 4 lump being fitted----sorry state of affairs.
Cheers Ray the Rocker... |
