I have just had the gearbox mountings renewed on my 1934 Morris 10/6 and now, at around 35 mph when the car is under load, there is a noticable judder through the steering.
When on the flat all is OK but as soon as we hit an incline the vibration starts.
The old mounts were well and truly done for - could fitting new ones have thrown something out of alignment?
Any advice gratefully received.

Trevor,
It sounds like the front U-joint could be bad and is now being highlighted by a bit of miss-alignment on the rear mount. Measure between the chassis rails and gearbox to make sure it's centred, but I'm sure you will find the U-joint is the problem.

Does the Morris have any tie bars that attach the engine or 'box to the chassis? I know the upright Fords do, and if they go loose (or as in the case of my old E83W disappear altogether) it can cause bad vibrations (not a Beach Boys song either... )
