It is my great pleasure to be able to announce the first pleasure flying dates of the '09 season for the Rapides of the Classic Flight.

Saturday 11th April - Open Day at Coventry, where it will be possible to look around our hanger and see engineering work in progress on these fantastic old aircraft.

If you want to bring your classic vehicle along ,we would love to see you and if you could give me some prior notice,we might be able to get you on the airfield with your vehicle.

Also we will be attending the Wings and Wheels events on,
Sunday 12th April and Monday 13th April - at Halfpenny Green.

Why not take a flight in this, the 75th anniversary year of the types first flight!

I realise that finances are tight, but please tell your friends and family about these dates, the more passengers we can carry ,the better it is for their long term future!

If anyone joins the Classic Flight club, they get four half price flights,as part of the package,(which can be used by family and friends, not just the club member) !
Not bad for £ 65 !

Thanks for looking,Alan

Did anyone come along today?
There were two classic cars in the car park,a TR4a and another type, but I didn't have a camera with me unfortunately so I didn't take any pics!

We had a pretty succesfull day at Coventry today, with five flights completed and can I just say that everyone who disembarked from the flights had a smile on their face and said how much they enjoyed their flight.

How often do you hear someone say that when they get off a commercial flight?!

If you haven't tried it yet,why not make this year the time to try it out?
You won't be dissapointed!

We are at Halfpenny Green's charity fly-in event,in aid of the county air ambulance on Sunday and bank holiday Monday.
Why not come along and support a great event and have a flight over the scenic Severn Valley.
You might even spot a steam train!

Venturing out over the Severn Valley.

The only,other way,to travel!

Alan,

I was up there with you in spirit, if not in body! I bet you had a fabulous time. The weather today looked much better than the bumpy, stormy skies shown in your first post!

It was nice to see the Rapide flying over my house but I do miss the DC3 Dakotas.

What has happened with the other plane that used to come over, the one with the high wing that looks ex RAF?

When I was a child (just after WW2) a great treat was to be taken on a fourpenny busride to Croydon Airport. The Rapides always fascinated me and were doing trips at 10/- a time. Father always insisted there were better things to do with ten bob. This may be my chance to fulfill an old ambition.

Sorry I haven't replied gents,I forgot to tick the notification box!

Keith ,thanks for your thoughts.

Rotary Bri,that was the Twin Pioneer,Primrose.

It was WFU last year,as the wing attachment brackets ran out of 'life'.We have been able to source a set from Australia, but due to paper work problems,we haven't been able to fit them as yet. However,I think these are now resolved and work has commenced on fitting them and getting her airborne again.
We miss her too!

Don,we are holding another open day at Coventry on June 6th,if you would like to come along,as well as doing some pleasure flights from other venues.
Please see the web site,classic.flight.com,for the list.
